Character age: 23

Canon Abilities/Powers:

  • Hilda possesses the Minor Crest of Goneril, which is... something in her blood? The game never explains it, honestly, but she was born with it; it's just an innate ability unique to her bloodline that, in the game, sometimes prevents enemies from performing counterattacks (ie she can sometimes take two swings for the price of one). She can't control when this happens, and as she possesses a minor crest, it doesn't proc all too often. It also allows her to wield her family's relic, the axe Freikugel, but more on that below!
  • She has a ~defining ability~ known as Advocate, which "boosts the damage output of nearby male allied units." In RP terms, I suppose this means she's really good at hyping up her allies. Who doesn't want someone cheering them along from the sidelines?
  • She's quite skilled with an axe, as it is her weapon of choice! She's halfway decent with a lance! She's used to wearing/fighting in heavy armor, although she doesn't necessarily like it. She also has experience with flying mounts, especially wyverns.
What is their greatest negative emotion towards an object, situation, or person in their past?:
Hilda may seem relatively carefree, but Hilda hates, hates, hates the idea of disappointing others. Expectations are scary? As the second child from a relatively influential noble family, she's spent years watching people force them on her talented older brother—and while he bears the burden well, it's obviously impossible for him to come through for everyone. Some people inevitably wind up disappointed, and that disappointment is, in Hilda's eyes, a devastating thing to deal with. Hilda likes being liked, you see; she'd rather make the people around her smile via her compliments than frown because she failed them in some way.

So what does Hilda do with this fear? Hilda bases so much of herself around it, adopting a lazy, delicate persona meant to discourage anyone from asking for her anything. Whether it's something as small as making tea, or something as large as, say, depending on her support in a battle, Hilda tries her hardest to seem too weak/inept/etc to do little more than stand to the side and watch—and sure, it's nice to rarely need to lift a finger! It can be fun to charm/compliment others into doing this, that, or the other, but the worry that they'll expect something she can't quite deliver lingers in the back of her mind.

How strongly do they feel about the negative subject matter, on the scale of one to ten?:
I'd say it's an... eight? It influences so much about her, from how she acts to what she chooses to do (or not do); like, she's perfectly okay with others seeing her as useless, so long as it means they never expect anything of her. She can—and does!—rise above this fear when the need arises, as I'll explain below, but generally speaking, the idea of letting others down... is a reeeeeal bummer.
What is their greatest virtue?:
Hilda truly is a caring individual, especially when it comes to her dear, deer pals. Even when she's showering someone with compliments in the hopes they'll do something for her, she only says things she means, wary of throwing out empty compliments that will wind up hurting them. She wants others to know they've done a good job, or that they're appreciated, because it makes them happy—and because she, herself, knows what it's like to go without genuine compliments. People hit on her, sure, or flatter her in an attempt to get closer to her family/her brother, but as she tells someone in her support chain, "I've gotten scolds aplenty, but compliments I'm not accustomed to." She doesn't want anyone to feel this way!

And aside from offering genuine compliments, Hilda's brand of Caring means that there is... little she won't do for those closest to her. When Hilda attempted to pawn off her chores on Marianne, only to find that Marianne made an, ah, even larger mess for herself, Hilda didn't leave her to it; Hilda stepped in and did the bulk of the work herself, presumably to save herself a scolding—but also to help, because Hilda could tell that Marianne needed it. She's also fiercely loyal to Claude, the leader of the Leicester Alliance and one of her closest friends; like, she sticks by his side throughout the war, refusing to run even when he tells her to (albeit in other routes). When push comes to shove? When those she cares for need her? No matter how big or small the task, Hilda will come through.
How aware are they of their virtue, on a scale from one to ten?:
It's a solid six for this one. She makes a conscious effort to search for others' best qualities, and she thinks she's pretty darn good at it—but she's also quick to tell those closest to her that, no, they really shouldn't count on her for anything. She's still afraid that she'll let them down if she needs to do anything other than gas them up!
Items:

  • Freikugel, which is a huge axe that can only be wielded by those bearing the Crest of Goneril. She can smack stuff with it, as one would expect, but she can also do a nifty special attack that's especially effective against dragons? The chances of her using this in this game are so low, but. It's a thing.
  • An extra set of clothing... maybe with an extra headband and/or pair of earrings thrown in, because a girl must look cute at all times.
  • A small tin of her favorite Rose Petal Blend of tea!
